An Epidemic of Propaganda

Propaganda has many masks.

The war against the Iranian regime and its proxies is waged diligently in the intelligence realm, for Israel knows their methods. 

Because Iran can’t match Israel’s precise intelligence capabilities and operational air superiority, Tehran and Hamas have integrated targeted psychological warfare, synthetic media, and automated disinformation into their military strategy. 

Understanding that neither Iranian ballistic salvoes nor Hamas rocket launches can breach Israel’s multi-layered air defense array—including Arrow 3, David’s Sling, and Iron Dome—the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hamas shift the battle into the psychological realm.

But Iran and Hamas employ distinct operational forms of propaganda.

Tehran uses state-sponsored deepfakes and high-tech information warfare aimed at projecting regional dominance. Its psychological strategy relies on "ballistic fakes"—recycling archived footage of past regional explosions, utilizing video game physics engines, and generating synthetic AI media to simulate the total destruction of strategic Israeli landmarks, airbases, and energy infrastructure. 

Automated bot armies flood digital platforms like X, Telegram, and TikTok within seconds of a strike. 

By circulating spoofed Hebrew-language text messages, deepfake emergency notifications, and altered strike reports directly to civilian mobile devices, Iran seeks to trigger mass hysteria.

Hamas’s propaganda tactics also center on hyper-emotional, decentralized psychological warfare engineered to divide Israeli society from within and leverage humanitarian pressure abroad. 

Hamas edits selective body-cam footage and "red triangle" combat clips to exaggerate IDF casualties and project an illusion of military resilience. 

Furthermore, Hamas leverages a deliberate victimhood doctrine, exploiting civilian infrastructure as operational shields and manipulating casualty reporting to ignite international outrage, restrict IDF operational freedom, and turn global public opinion against Israel.

Hamas’s campaign also involves manipulating diplomatic negotiations surrounding ceasefire and post-war governance frameworks, such as the roadmap aligned with President Trump's peace plan for Gaza. 

They use coordinated media leaks to falsely project diplomatic compliance while attempting to preserve its covert military infrastructure. 

Israel maintains, alongside international mediators, that there can be no partial dismantling of subterranean tunnels or partial surrender of armaments; a complete, total, and verifiable dismantling of all terror infrastructure is non-negotiable. 

The IDF asserts that there will be no Israeli withdrawal from the tactical "Yellow Line" in Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed and the Strip is entirely demilitarized.

This synchronized Iranian-Hamas information campaign seeks to manipulate Western public opinion, erode international support for IDF defensive operations, and drive a strategic wedge between Israel and its global partners. 

In fact, the Nameless One calls attention to this, saying, “The American public is bombarded with propaganda and Iranian propaganda and talking points and is therefore less willing to pay the price of victory.”

The IDF’s goal is to dismantle this hostile cognitive machinery, which requires treating information warfare as a primary domain of combat operating in direct alignment with ground, air, naval, and cyber operations. 

The counter-strategy relies on rapid operational transparency to neutralize immediate fabrications. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit operates rapid-response monitoring centers equipped with digital verification technology. 

When enemy networks distribute deepfakes of damaged installations or manipulated combat clips across platforms like X, Telegram, and TikTok, IDF teams verify real-time satellite imagery or release direct, unedited ground footage from the location within minutes, disproving false claims before they saturate global feeds.

Simultaneously, Israeli defense categorizes the architects of psychological warfare as active combatants within hostile state and non-state entities. 

The IDF and intelligence services explicitly treat key operators within the IRGC’s psychological warfare units, terrorist media spokespeople, and covert influence cells as high-value targets within the wider war. Neutralizing key leadership within these propaganda structures directly impairs the enemy's capacity to orchestrate synchronized, multi-platform cognitive attacks.

The IDF Home Front Command continuously educates the civilian population on recognizing cognitive manipulation, deceptive emergency links, and spoofed social media alerts, knowing that a media-literate civil society drastically neutralizes foreign psychological warfare. 

Furthermore, the IDF executes direct strategic communications aimed at civilian populations in Iran and Gaza through official Persian and Arabic channels. 

By exposing how national resources are diverted away from civilian welfare to fund costly missile inventories, subterranean tunnels, and regional proxy networks, Israel counters enemy propaganda at its origin.
